Last Minute Preparations for Brazil

Packing and repacking--it has become almost a ritual for me during the last week before a missions trip.  Many years ago I read a book by Rev. Billy Graham's late wife in which she described how they were invited to a formal state dinner on one of their trips abroad and she had nothing to wear.  So she pulled out of her bag a beautiful black silk slip and wore it! No one knew.  I remember putting the book down, dumbfounded that this great woman of God would actually do that.  Then I realized that this happened back in the days when slips were constructed with modesty and coverage in mind.  What a pioneer woman of faith she was--a true heroine.

Well, I don't expect to be invited to any state dinners on this trip; but I intend to be prepared for anything.  We may trod through some mud on our way into poor communities as we take Joyce Musselman's beautiful quilts to the women living in poverty.  We will deliver medicine and bandages to the woman we met last year, whose legs were covered in sores.

Both of my messages are ready--"Leading From A Healthy Soul" and "Abigail's Story: Understanding A Woman's Heart."  Our women's conference theme is "Heart to Heart" and our team of seven will lead workshops and teach on a variety of topics.  Stay tuned.  I will try to send home daily reports and photos via Ginger's computer.  My family gave me a fabulous new Sony camera for Mother's Day, and it has a movie dial; so I hope to be able to download a few of them to this site as well.  Keep me in your prayers.  Look out Brazil, here we come.  -Marlyn
